A one day awareness meeting on child rights and child protection for parents and religious leaders from seven districts in Benadir and Galgadud regions were held in April 2016.
On 24th March, 2016, a conflict between two clans in Eastern Jowhar was resolved after the traditional elders of the clans engaged inter clan dialogue. The elders were remorseful to each other after serious discussions where one clan paid compensation money to the other.
Somali Peace Line Child protection team with help of CWCs had identified 32 children selected from 7 districts in Banadir Region, in order to provide life skill training opportunity to equip the children to negotiate and mediate challenges and risks in their lives and to enable them productive participation

Awil Mohamed is a 16 years old boy enrolled in IIDA’s rehabilitation program for ex-CAAFAG children.Awil was born in Dhusamareb in Galgudud region in central Somalia. His mother was divorced and he came to Mogadishu to stay with his uncle who was a soldier in the Somali army. Months later Awil joined the army after his uncle allowed him to join the armed forces so he could get paid and support his family back home in Dhusamareb.

Hawa Yabarow, child protection focal point, met a 16 year old young girl looking for somewhere to sleep in Sigale. The young girl was from Merca district, in Lower Shabelle region. Her parents married her off to a 45year-old man when she was 15 years old but she refused to marry the man
