Child Resilience program is a program meant for the children to enhance psychosocial wellbeing and protection of children’s right through improving the cooperation and peaceful interaction among children regardless of tribe, background, social status and above all, gender. The chief aim of the workshops given to the children was to build and create a peaceful and friendly environment for the selected children to enable them to develop the essence of being creative, improve their self esteem and develop self-interaction among themselves and also with the society at large
On January 2014,SPL implemented child resilience program funded by Save the children international for five (5 ) selected schools in Hodan and Howlwadag districts, that is; Qaran, Ayatin, Badbado, Qamar and Hassan Qaridi schools) The program outlined criteria for the children who took part in its implementation and they were; age range from 9-16 years, boys and girls, natural groups, not issue/vulnerability based and lastly 50 children per school.
However, it was necessary to get the go ahead from the child’s parents whether or not to participate in the program therefore a consent form was issued to each parent and sign it for their approval.
In a nut shell, a total of 16 workshops are to be conducted in each school for a period of 4 months starting from January to April 2014 and so far the program is being implemented successfully.
