Youth In The Lead: Football for Peace in Abudwak

Under the Youth In The Lead project, Somali Peace Line (SPL), in collaboration with Life and Peace Institute and with funding from EU_inSomalia, successfully organized a football tournament that brought together six clubs from six different villages in Abudwak. The tournament provided young people with an opportunity to participate in sport while building connections across communities.
The main aim of the football cup was to strengthen peace, unity, and positive relationships among communities in Abudwak. Through football, young people from different villages came together in a spirit of teamwork, healthy competition, and mutual respect—demonstrating the important role of youth and sport in peacebuilding.
The tournament concluded with an exciting final match between Amana Village and October Village. Both teams competed strongly for the championship, but in the end, Amana Village emerged victoriously, winning the cup.
SPL extends its appreciation to all six clubs, the youth, communities, and partners who contributed to the success of the tournament. Initiatives like this highlight how investing in youth and creating opportunities for positive engagement can build stronger, more peaceful, and more connected communities in Abudwak.
