SPL team with the help of trained 16 facilitators conducted eight sessions of FGD targeted to main four public institutions that provide basic service of health and education to the community. The survey participants consisted of the service providers (managements, supervisor, teachers, doctors) and beneficiaries (parents, students, and CEC,). Two FGDs are conducted at each location, one FGD for the service providers and other for the community who benefited the service provided.

The survey participants consisted of 24 participants in each location (12 from the service providers and 12 from the community members) while the total number of participants in each location were 48 members.

The survey aimed to assess the quality of the basic services (education & health) using social accountability tools, identify gaps and challenges that face public institutions and finally raise awareness for the government & public institutions on social accountability.

The survey discovered that there are some challenges facing the schools targeted. Arafat primary and secondary school is public school run by the SWS ministry of education that is serious effected by the El-Nino floods destroying all the education tools and material as well as the school fence and physical appearance. It also destroyed the school water tanks while laying huge mud in the school ground.

Mustaqbal integrated school is the largest school that hosts almost 400 disable students while both FGD participants stated that there is scarcity of qualified teachers for disabled students and education materials for the blind students.

Both MCH targeted provide free health service and run by SWS health ministry which provide the medicine and staff incentives. One of the MCH beneficiaries complained that they lack TSFP (feeding provided by normal children) and EPI (vaccination for children and pregnant mothers).
