On 25th March 2024, as part of the Youth in the Lead project, Somali Peace Line (SPL) organized a one-day relationship-building and buying meeting in Abudwak. The meeting was attended by a total of 41 participants, including 9 females, representing various stakeholders such as Abudwak Authority, community leaders, youth and women groups, and elders.
The primary objectives of the meeting were twofold. Firstly, it aimed to establish and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in Abudwak. This was crucial in gaining the acceptance and support of the Abudwak community and its leadership, with the ultimate goal of ensuring their active participation in the project and contributing to its success. Secondly, the meeting sought to generate interest and enthusiasm among the stakeholders regarding the project initiatives. By effectively communicating the project’s goals and objectives, the intention was to garner support and commitment from the Abudwak community and leaders.
The meeting commenced with an official opening by the deputy mayor of Abudwak, who expressed a warm welcome to SPL and acknowledged the organization’s previous work in Abudwak. The deputy mayor also extended his appreciation for the new project and its potential contributions to peacebuilding in Abudwak. He emphasized the importance of facilitating constructive dialogues among community members, particularly the youth, as a means to promote peace and harmony in Abudwak.
Overall, the meeting served as a platform for SPL to establish collaborative relationships, gain support, and generate enthusiasm among the stakeholders in Abudwak. By fostering these connections and obtaining buy-in from the community and leadership, SPL aimed to pave the way for the successful implementation of the project and the achievement of its desired outcomes.
