Somali Peace Line conducted 2-days Study session/workshop on existing local policies and plans towards national disability policy for CSOs, community platforms and government officials with the aim of educating participants about the national disability policy at federal level and process of finalizing the disability bill of Hirshabelle State.
Key topics covered over the course of the workshop included the following:
- Overview of the workshop objectives and agenda
- Overview of the National Disability Policy and its contents.
- Programs to develop the national disability policy
- Implementation strategies of the national disability policy
- Introduction to public policy
- Plenary discussions on disability matters
Participants divided into smaller groups to analyze existing local policies and plans through the lens of CRPD compliance.
Groups discussed barriers, good practices, and recommendations for aligning local efforts with national disability policy.
Participants also shared key takeaways and action points from the group work sessions.
