Under the Danjire project, co-funded by the EU, SPL conducted a 1-Day Quarterly CSO Consultation Meeting in Jowhar, focusing on the theme: “The Role of Youth in Elections and Democratic Governance.”
The meeting brought together 20 participants from various civil society organizations (CSOs) in Jowhar. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on:
✅ Effective strategies for CSOs to engage youth in the electoral process
✅ Promoting the principle of one person, one vote among young people
✅ Enhancing civic education to ensure youth understand their rights and responsibilities
✅ Supporting youth inclusion in political decision-making for better representation
✅ Encouraging youth-led monitoring of elections to ensure transparency and accountability
Following these discussions, participants collaboratively developed an Advocacy Plan on the Role of Youth in Elections and Democratic Governance.
Overall, the consultation meeting fostered a constructive environment for collaboration and coordination among diverse stakeholders dedicated to Somalia’s democratic progress.
