On this International Women’s Day, Somali Peace Line (SPL) proudly reaffirms its commitment to advocating for the rights, dignity, and justice of all Somali women and girls. This year’s global theme, “Rights, Justice, Action,” calls for meaningful steps to ensure that women and girls everywhere can live free from discrimination, violence, and inequality.
Women and girls play a vital role in shaping peaceful, resilient, and thriving communities. In Somalia, their contributions to peacebuilding, leadership, and social development are essential for sustainable progress. However, many still face barriers that limit their access to opportunities, protection, and full participation in decision-making.
SPL stands firmly with Somali women and girls by promoting gender equality, raising awareness of women’s rights, and advocating for policies and actions that protect and empower them. We believe that when women and girls are supported, respected, and given equal opportunities, entire communities benefit.
On this important day, we call on communities, leaders, organizations, and partners to take real action to protect women’s rights, strengthen justice systems, and create inclusive spaces where women and girls can thrive.
