With the support of the UN Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) Somalia, Somali Peace Line (SPL), in partnership with the Life & Peace Institute, conducted a comprehensive training for youth and electoral stakeholders in Kismayo from March 23rd to 25th, 2026. The training brought together diverse participants to strengthen their understanding of peaceful engagement and constructive participation in upcoming electoral processes.
The sessions focused on critical pillars of democratic engagement, including nonviolent political participation, citizens’ electoral rights, and gender mainstreaming. In addition to these core areas, the curriculum integrated human rights and protection services tailored to the specific needs of the local context. Through interactive discussions and practical workshops, the program built the capacity of youth and electoral actors to navigate political spaces responsibly.
This initiative directly addresses the regional need to promote inclusive and transparent participation in elections. By enhancing the awareness and technical skills of youth and stakeholders, the training fosters a culture of dialogue and civic responsibility. These efforts are essential for embedding democratic values and ensuring that every community member can contribute to a peaceful and stable future for Somalia.
