Under the Youth in the Lead initiative, SPL, in collaboration with Life & Peace Institute, hosted a transformative event titled “Youth Role in Community Development” on xxx in Abudwak, Galmudug, Somalia.
The event convened 38 dynamic youth leaders and community representatives, creating a vibrant platform for dialogue, reflection, and collaboration on the critical role young people play in fostering resilient and inclusive communities.
Key Themes and Outcomes.
Discussions at the event revolved around the most pressing challenges faced by communities today—and how young people can champion meaningful solutions. Participants exchanged ideas and experiences, culminating in a shared commitment to:
Promote peace and reconciliation within and beyond their communities
Actively combat corruption and advocate for integrity in leadership
Reject tribalism and embrace unity and diversity
Invest in education, entrepreneurship, and innovation to secure a sustainable future
Step into leadership roles and take ownership of community-driven change.
Voices of Change
Participants emphasized the need for platforms like this to be scaled up across the region. Many expressed a renewed sense of agency and determination to serve as change-makers in their localities.
