Under the SafeSteps Project, Somali Peace Line ( SPL), with support from Somalia Humanitarian Fund shf_somalia, has been working to deliver critical life-saving protection messages to communities in Galkayo District (Buulaley, Dagaari, and Doxo Mudug).
Strengthening Community Awareness & Protection
SPL’s dedicated social workers facilitated awareness sessions that engaged 400 community members, equipping them with essential knowledge on safety, protection rights, and access to vital services. The focus areas of these sessions included:
✅ Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) – Educating communities on the risks of unexploded ordnance and safe practices to prevent accidents.
✅ Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) – Raising awareness on safeguarding vulnerable groups from exploitation and abuse while promoting ethical conduct.
✅ Gender-Based Violence (GBV) & Child Protection (CP) Risks – Enhancing community understanding of GBV prevention strategies and child protection measures to ensure a safe environment for all.
Impact & Community Empowerment
These awareness sessions not only provided critical protection knowledge but also empowered communities to take proactive steps in promoting safety and advocating for their rights. By fostering inclusive discussions and engagement, SPL is enabling long-term protection strategies that address local challenges.
