Somali Peace Line (SPL) organized a Radio Talk-show on the impacts of climate change and environmental hazards attended by 5 panelists (3 male, 2 female) who discussed the urgent impacts of climate change and environmental hazards on their community.
Experts highlighted that rising temperatures and erratic weather patterns have led to increased flooding and droughts, severely affecting local agriculture and water supply. These changes threaten food security and the economic stability of vulnerable populations.
The discussion emphasized the importance of immediate action, including enhanced disaster preparedness and sustainable practices to mitigate these risks.
The panelists also shared their perspectives on how climate change disproportionately affects marginalized groups, stressing the need for inclusive policies that address these disparities. Participants called for greater collaboration between local governments, CSOs, and community members to develop adaptive strategies and raise awareness about environmental conservation.
The talk show underscored the critical role of community engagement in tackling climate-related challenges and the necessity for a united approach to foster resilience against future environmental hazards.
