In June, Somali Peace Line successfully concluded the final Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness session under the Safe Steps project, targeting total of 162 participants across Doxo Mudug IDP, Deegan IDP, and Bulaley village — including women, men, and children.
🟣 This closing session served as both a refresher and a moment of reflection, highlighting the significant progress made over the past year. Participants revisited core topics such as:
– Types of GBV
– Early and forced marriage
– Mental health
– Referral pathways for survivors
✅ Key outcomes observed throughout the project include:
– A reduction in stigma surrounding survivors
– Strengthened participation by both men and women in prevention efforts
🌟 Community leaders and youth expressed heartfelt appreciation for the knowledge and tools they gained. Several participants shared powerful testimonies of how the sessions enabled them to support survivors and access help themselves.
