This report seeks to explain the establishment and strengthening of existing/new community based structure in Banadir region supported by NORAD project which is an integrated thematic areas for education, CP/CRG and DRR in target locations including Karan, Shibis, Wabari, HamarJabjab, Wadajir,Hawlwdagand Bondhere. These community structures have the responsibilities of Provision, Identification and Referral of Child Protection Cases so that the children affected violence can access timely and quality response to child protection concerns appropriate to the best interest of the child that meet the minimum standards for child protection in humanitarian response. The aim of the meetingwas to re-establish and strengthening the capacity of the CWC toward the welfare of the Somali Children in any protection problems that exist in their location Each of the community-based, child welfare committee established consisted of 7 districts with 10 members each district, bringing the total membership to 70 members (30 Female and 40 Male). These structures have clear TOR, regular monthly meetings and linkages with other stakeholders including local government officials. The meeting was facilitated by CP/CRG Project Officer Mr. Abdi Ali supported by CP/CRG Manager; Mr. Mustaf Mohamed targeting ten (10) community structures (CWCs) from seven district.

Objectives Activity

Ø To re-establish the CWC’s and carryout to handle child protection and child rights role as well as identification of child protection in emergency needs in their respective camps

ØTo enable the CWCs to have the capacity in offering the required assistance and collect indepthinformation to connect survivors as soon as possible to social support networks and community helping resources through Supportive adaptive coping, acknowledge strengths, and empower survivors to take an active role in their recovery.

Ø To promote the role of participants on the best mechanism and procedures used on how to prevent, respond and report child protection cases

Action points agreed during the meeting

The participants agreed on the following points for their future work:

ØTo strengthen team work to collectively accomplish the a signed duties and responsibilities

Ø To create a link between the community and the organizations and identify children with protection concerns.

Ø Highlighting and addressing issues affecting children so as to tackle problems that may negatively affect the lives of many children

Ø In some conditionsCommunity Based Child Welfare Committees can ask for technical advice resource persons from organization on cross-cutting issues affecting children.

Ø TheCommunity Based Child Welfare Committees to work for the welfare and wellbeing of the children in the school target communities.
